Estate of Daniel McLean late of New Gairloch, Farmer, deceased, Testate

Copy of Will for the Registrar of Deeds

I Daniel McLean of New Gairloch in the County of Pictou and Province of Nova Scotia, Farmer, being of good and perfect memory and knowing the uncertainty of time, do make and ordain this my last Will and Testament.

I give and bequeath to my Sister Christy McLeod widow of John McLeod One Hundred dollars in Cash.

I give and bequeath to Christy Ann McKenzie, Spinster, who has resided with me for some years past, and now resides with me, the sum of Two hundred and fifty dollars in Cash,

And I ordain that these two bequests be paid over to the parties named within three years from the date hereof,

And I further ordain that the proceeds of my Real or personal property or both be used for that purpose and should any default be made in the payment of these bequests.

I hereby give full power & authority to my executors hereinafter appointed to dispose of so much of my property as in their judgement is sufficient to pay the same,

And the residue of all my Real Estate and personal I give, devise and bequeath to my beloved wife Isabella McLean and her heirs and assigns, including the household property in which I now reside at said New Gairloch, bounded and described as follows, bounded on the North west by lands formerly owned by John McDonald, and the lands of William Sutherland, on the South east by lands of Robert Gordon and others, and on the North East by lands of Kenneth Ross, containing one hundred acres more or less, and the appurtenances thereto belonging, together with all the livestock, horses, cows, sheep, cats, waggons, sleighs, sleds and all the farming, and household furniture, fixtures and furnishings, notes, bonds, books, paper, stoves and cooking utensils.

I hereby constitute and appoint Alexander Sutherland of New Gairloch, Farmer, and Angus McDonald of West River in the County of Pictou, Farmer, Executors of this my last Will.

In witness whereof I have Signed and Sealed and published and declared this Instrument as my last Will at said New Gairloch in the said County of Pictou, on the sixteenth day of July in the year of our Lord One thousand eight hundred and ninety seven.

The said Daniel McLean at said New Gairloch on the said sixteeenth day of July One thousand eight hundred and ninety seven, Signed and Sealed this Instrument and published and declared the same as and for his last Will, and we at his request and in his presence and in the presence of each other have hereunto Subscribed our names as witnesses.

I do hereby certify that the foregoing instrument consisting of one page & a half pages, is an exact and literal copy of the last Will and Testament of Daniel McLean, late of New Gairloch in the County of Pictou, Farmer, deceased, Testate, which has been duly filed and admitted to Probate in accordance with the practice of the Court.
