Estate of Janet McKean late of Westville, Widow, deceased, Testate
Copy of Will for the Registrar of Deeds
This is the last Will and Testament of me Jannet McKean of Westville in the County of Pictou, Widow.
My will is that all my just debts and funeral expenses by paid and also that a monument be erected to mark my last resting place, with suitable
inscription thereon, also on the same monument an inscription in memory of my brother Hugh Fraser, the whole to cost
not less than thirty dollars.
The above matters to be attended to by my Executors hereinafter names, The residue and remainder of my real and personal property which shall
not be required for such I give devise and dispose of as follows –
I give and devise my pew in Carmel Church to Carmel Church Congregation to be leased or rented and the proceeds to go into the general funds of
the Congregation.
I give and devise to my nephew William H. Fraser son of my brother Donald my Family Bible.
I give and devise to my niece Catherine Fraser of Rocklin all my furs.
I give and devise to William L. Fraser one of my executors my shares in the Acadia Corporation Society of Westville with interest or dividends
accruing, In Trust for my adopted daughter Mary Stow McKean to hold the same or make over to her at is discretion hoping my said Trustee will act
in this matter with a view to my said adopted Daughter best interest, and I hereby give him power at any time to appoint a trustee with the same
powers as he has to act in his place should my said adopted daughter die without heirs. I order the above shares to be sold and the proceeds
divided between Carmel Church and Middle River Church Share and Share alike.
The remainder of my property both real and personal I order my Executors to dispose of either public auction or private Sale to the best advantage
and the amount realized to be disposed of as follows –
I give and devise to the Middle River Church Twenty dollars to be applied to paying for their debt.
I give and devise to the foreign mission of the Presbyterian Church of Canada Twenty dollars to be applied to any part of that Field my Executors in
their discretion think proper.
I give and devise to Adam McKean Esq. of Pictou town Twenty dollars.
The balance still remaining of the above mentioned amount I divide into twenty eight shares and dispose of as follows –
I give and devise to Alexander D. Fraser my brother John’s son Five Shares.
I give and devise to Alexander D. Fraser my sister Elizabeth’s son Two Shares.
I give and devise to Walter L. Fraser my sister Elizabeth’s son One Share.
I give and devise to Mary A. McKay my sister Elizabeth’s daughter One Share.
I give and devise to Catherine M. Culton my sister Elizabeth’s daughter One Share.
I give and devise to David J. Fraser my brother Alexander’s son Two Shares.
I give and devise to Anthony S. Fraser my brother Alexander’s son Two Shares.
I give and devise to Elizabeth Crockett my sister Marion’s daughter Two Shares.
I give and devise to Harriet Murray my brother William’s daughter Two Shares.
I give and devise to Alexander S. Fraser my brother William’s son Two Shares.
I give and devise to Alexander J. Munro of Westville my Friend and Relative Two Shares.
I give and devise to Jannet Fraser my friend and relative of Durham Two Shares.
I give and devise to Nathaniel S. Urquhart my Friend Two Shares.
I give and devise to Jessie Munro wife of Edward F. Munro my friend and relative One Share.
I hereby nominate and appoint my nephew William L. Fraser Esq. of Middle River and Rev. Robert Cumming of Westville executors of this my last
Will and Testament. (name Robert darker- initials in margin)
In witness whereof I the testator have hereunto Set my hand and Seal this fourth day of February in the year of our Lord One thousand Eight hundred and Eighty Six.

I do hereby certify that the foregoing instrument consisting of three pages, is an exact and literal copy of the last Will and Testament of Janet McKean, late of Westville in the County of Pictou, Widow, deceased, Testate, which has been duly filed and admitted to Probate in accordance with the practice of the Court.
