Estate of John McKenzie late of River John, Farmer, deceased, Testate

Copy of Will for the Registrar of Deeds

Know all men by these present that I John McKenzie of River John, in the County of Pictou and Province of Nova Scotia, Farmer, being of sound and disposing mind and memory do make and publish this my last Will and testament.

1St. I give and bequeath to Daniel McLean of New Lairg in the County of Pictou, my riding waggon an also one third [art of my cattle and also one third part of my outstanding debts due to me consisting of promissory notes and other amounts due to me.

2nd. I give and bequeath to my sister Flora McKenzie one third part of my cattle and outstanding debts the aforesaid Flora McKenzie now wife of John Fraser of West River in the County of Pictou, also one half of my bed clothing.

3rd. I give and bequeath to my sister Isabella McKenzie one third part of my outstanding debts due me, ad also one half of my bed clothing and also to the said Isabella McKenzie the use of my property for her Sole benefit and behoofe during the term of her natural life, the said property is located at Westville in the County of Pictou, the said property consists of a dwelling house and Town lots.

4th. I give and bequeath to my nephew Duncan McLeod my property at Westville, the same being the property bequeathed to my sister Isabella McKenzie he the said Duncan McLeod not to come into possession of said property until after the decease of my aforesaid sister Isabella McKenzie.

5th. I ordain and appoint Daniel McLean of New Lairg and John McDonald (Drover) of River John in the County of Pictou, my Executors of this my last Will and Testament.
In testimony whereof I have hereunto Set my hand and Seal and published this to be my last Will and Testament this 11th. day of May on the year of our Lord Eight hundred and eighty one.

I do hereby certify that the foregoing instrument consisting of one page and a half pages, is an exact and literal copy of the last Will and Testament of John McKenzie, late of River John in the County of Pictou, Farmer, deceased, Testate, which has been duly filed and admitted to Probate in accordance with the practice of the Court.
