Estate of Alexander McKenzie, late of Watervale, Farmer, deceased, Testate
Copy of Will for the Registrar of Deeds
Know all men by these presents that I Alexander McKenzie, farmer of Watervale in the County of Pictou and Province of Nova Scotia, being of sound disposing mind and memory do make and ordain this as my last Will and testament.
1St. I give and bequeath to my son Alexander McKenzie the one half of my land property being the half ling toward the Northwest, to have and to hold for himself and his heirs forever.
2nd. I give and bequeath to my son Daniel the remaining half of land property to have and to hold for himself and his heirs forever.
3rd. I give and bequeath to my wife Elizabeth all my personal property.
4th. I require that my wife Elizabeth shall take charge of all my real estate until my youngest son arrive at the age of twenty one years and that she endeavor to give the children a suitable education.
5th. I require that my sons Alexander and Daniel shall give to my wife Elizabeth during her lifetime so along as she remains single the following portion, and that they pay equal parts of the following portions, viz. Four barrels of flour, two hundred weight of oatmeal, one hundred weight of beef, fifty weight of Pork, twelve pounds of tea, twenty pounds of Sugar, and fifteen bushels of potatoes, and that they keep for her sole and separate use one Cow and four sheep and also keep her suitably clad in shoes, and that this portion be paid yearly from the time that the youngest reaches the age of twenty one years provided as aforesaid that my wife remains unmarried, and also that they give her suitable rooms for her sole and separate use, if she so desires and to provide a sufficient quantity of fuel ready for the fire.
6th. I appoint Mr. John Williams of Watervale and Mr. Neil Sutherland of Watervale executor of this my last Will and testament.
In testimony whereof I have hereunto Set my hand Seal and publish and declare this as my last Will and testament on this fifth day of December in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and eighty three.

In the Court of Probate of Wills
I do hereby certify that the foregoing instrument consisting of one & a half pages, is an exact and literal copy of the last Will and Testament of Alexander McKenzie late of Watervale in the County of Pictou, Farmer, deceased, Testate, which has been duly filed and admitted to Probate in accordance with the practice of the Court.
Given under my hand at Pictou this 22nd. day of March A.D. 1890.
