Estate of John Urquhart late of Hopewell, Shoemaker, deceased, Testate

Copy of Will for the Registrar of Deeds

Know all men by these presents that I, John Urquhart of Hopewell Pictou County and Province of Nova Scotia, Shoemaker, Do make and publish this my last Will and Testament.

  1. Give and bequeath o my beloved wife, Matilda, all my real and personal property, to have and to hold for her benefit during her lifetime.
  2. I appoint and ordain that at my wife's death my son Donald shall become owner of my present household, consisting of house, outhouses, barns, i.e. together with five acres of land, more or less, bounded by lands of James McNaughton, Alexr. Fraser, Dan Robertson, Duncan McDonald, .i.e. to have and to hold for himself his heirs and assigns forever.
  3. I give and ordain after my wife's death to Alexr. my son my house and lot fronting on the main road, and bounded on the South by Lot of Hugh D. McLeod, and on the North by the lot of Alexr. Falconer, to have and to hold the same for himself his heirs and assigns forever.
  4. I appoint and ordain to my daughter Catherine after my wife's death the remaining lot, bounded on the North by lands of Alexr. Grant, East by North by lot of Dan Robertson, South by road leading to my present residence 110 feet by 50 feet, also the sum of One hundred dollars.

I appoint and ordain my wife as Executrix, and my son Donald as

Executors of this my last Will and testament.

In testimony whereof I hereunto Set my Sign and Seal in the presence of the following witnesses on this the 30th. day of April 1887.

I do hereby certify that the foregoing instrument consisting of one page, is an exact and literal copy of the last Will and Testament of John Urquhart late of Hopewell, in the County of Pictou, Shoemaker, deceased, Testate, which has been duly filed and admitted to Probate in accordance with the practice of the Court.
