Estate of Alexander Thomson late of Pictou, Merchant, deceased, Testate
Copy of Will for the Registrar of Deeds
In the name of God, Amen. I, Alexander Thomson being of sound mind and memory and understanding, Do make this my last Will and Testament.
In the first place I direct that all my just debts be paid.
Secondly I give devise and bequeath all the residue of my Real and personal Estates, effects and credits to my children as follows, viz. Mary Sophia to receive out of the above Two hundred pounds N.S. currency - Isabel Elizabeth to receive Two hundred pounds N.S. currency. Delia Ann to receive four hundred pounds N.S. currency. Frances Amelia to receive Four hundred pounds N.S. currency. James Alexander to receive four hundred pounds N.S. currency. - and also to my wife Elizabeth four hundred pounds N.S. currency, on condition that she my said wife relinquish and give up all Her right of dower to the real and personal Estate above mentioned, if she does not think proper to do so, Then I will not give her the above four hundred pounds, all she will receive then will be one third of Real Estate according to Law. It is my wish that she relinquish all her legal rights, and receive that four hundred pounds mentioned above.
If after the Real and personal property is disposed of and there is not remaining a balance of Two thousand pounds to be divided among my Family, in that case the respective sums mentioned above must be all rendered in equal proportions, and on the other hand if the balance remaining after all debts are paid, should exceed Two thousand pounds, let the difference be added to the above sums in equal proportions.
I hereby nominate and appoint my Son in Law John A. Dawson Executor of this my last Will and testament.

I do hereby certify that the foregoing instrument consisting of one page & part of a page, is an exact and literal copy of the last Will and Testament of Alexr. Thomson, late of Pictou, in the County of Pictou, Merchant, deceased, Testate, which has been duly filed and admitted to Probate in accordance with the practice of the Court.
Given under my hand at Pictou, this 29th. day of May A.D. 1883.
