Will of Rebecca Thompson, deceased

Certified Copy of Will for Reg of Deeds Pictou

This my last Will and Testament of me Rebecca Thompson of Pictou in the County of Pictou, Widow. I hereby revoking all former wills at any time made by me.

  1. I give and bequeath to my niece Susan Dean my set of Blue China dishes, to my niece Mrs. John Robert McCoull my set of white china dishes, to my niece Margaret Dyarwood one bed, to my niece Jane Crow one large picture to be selected by her, to my niece Bessie Sullivan my sewing machine, to my niece Hannah Rebecca Beatty my gold earrings and Brooch, to Mrs. William McDonald Truckman Pictou aforesaid my Franklin stove, all of which above enumerated articles and in the house occupied by me on the corner of Prince and Cottage Streets Pictou aforesaid.
  2. I give and bequeath to my sister Margaret Crocker the use and enjoyment during her natural life of my gold watch and chain and after her decease I give and bequeath the same to my niece Jane Lyons.

3. I direct that my executors to expend the sum of fifty Dollars in the erection of a monument to the memory of my deceased sister Jane Rutherford.

  1. I give devise and bequeath all my real property of every kind and all my remaining personal property of every nature and kind unto my executors hereinafter named whom I appoint Trustees for the purposes hereof In Trust that my executors and Trustees shall sell and convert into money the same or such part thereof as shall not consist of money and shall with and out of the moneys provided by such sale and conversion and will and out of my ready money pay my funeral and Testamentary expenses debts and all charges costs and expenses of the trust and execution thereof and the legacies or moneys given and bequeathed by this will.
  2. I give and bequeath the following sums of money to the several persons hereinafter named, to my sister Margaret Crocker the sum of seven hundred Dollars, to my brother William Alexander Hamilton the sum of three hundred Dollars, to my sister Susana Beatty the sum of three hundred Dollars, to John J. McKenzie Medical Doctor Pictou aforesaid the sum of one hundred Dollars.
  3. I also give and bequeath the sum of three hundred Dollard to be equally divided among such of the children of my deceased sister Mary Hamilton as shall be living at my decease.
  4. I also give and bequeath the sum of three hundred Dollars to be equally divided among such of the children of my deceased Brother James Hamilton as shall be living at my decease.
  5. I also give and bequeath the sum of three hundred Dollars to be equally divided among such of the children of my deceased Brother Hance Hamilton as shall be living at my decease.
  6. I also give and bequeath the sum of three hundred Dollars to be equally divided among such of the children of my deceased Brother John Hamilton as shall be living at my decease.
  7. I give and bequeath all the residue of my estate so converted into money as aforesaid (after payment of the legacies aforesaid 5th. 6th.7th. 8th. and 9th. clauses) to my brother Robert Samuel Hamilton absolutely.

It is my wish and request this this will be not published in the newspapers.

 I constitute and appoint my brother Robert Samuel Hamilton and John J. McKenzie Medical Doctor Pictou aforesaid executors of this my last Will and Testament and Trustees for the purposes above mentioned.

I John D. McLeod Registrar of said Court do hereby certify that the foregoing paper writing is a true copy of the last Will and Testament of Rebecca Thompson late of Pictou in the County of Pictou Widow deceased which said will was duly admitted to Probate in said Court at Pictou on the 6th. day of March 1908.
