Estate of Thomas Rankin, late of Sutherland's River, Farmer, deceased, testate

Copy of Will for the Registrar of Deeds

Know all men by these presents that I Thomas Rankin of Sutherland's River in the County of Pictou, and Province of Nova Scotia, Farmer, being of sound and disposing mind and memory do make and publish this my last Will and Testament.

First,  I order that all my lawful debts be paid.

Second,  I give and bequeath to Mary Ann Rankin my wife all my real and personal property during her natural lifetime.

Third, I order that two Hundred Dollars $200.00 be given to Theresa Ross adopted by me, when she arrives at the age of twenty years.

Fourth, I order that a head stone be placed to my grave and all my funeral expenses, and the expenses of the funeral of Mary Ann my wife if not married again and all the expenses that may occur in the filling of these presents to be taken from my real and personal,

Fifth, I order that at the death of Mary Ann Rankin my wife and at the fulfilling of these presents the remainder of my real and personal property be given to my nearest Heirs in kin.

Sixth, I  appoint as Executors respectively of this my last Will and Testament Alexander Campbell farmer Sutherland's River and James Ross Esquire of Sutherland's River.

In witness whereof I hereunto my hand and seal subscribed and set this nineteenth day of June Anno Domini 1886.

I do hereby certify that the foregoing instrument consisting of one page, is an exact and literal copy of the last Will and Testament of Thomas Rankin late of Sutherland's River, in the County of Pictou, Farmer, deceased, Testate, which has been duly filed and admitted to Probate in accordance with the practice of the Court.

Given under my hand at Pictou, this 2nd. day of October A.D. 1886.
