Will

This is the last Will and testament of me, James McGregor MacKay, of New Glasgow, in the County of Pictou, Minister of the Gospel, hereby revoking all former wills at any time made by me.

1. I direct that all my just debts, funeral and testamentary expenses to be paid and satisfied by my executors hereinafter named, as soon as conveniently may be after my decease.

2. I give, devise and bequeath to my beloved wife Margaret MacKay for and during the period of her natural life the sole use and enjoyment of the house and lot of land which I own and upon which I at present reside and situate on Bernard Street in said New Glasgow.

3. I give, devise and bequeath to my said wife Margaret MacKay absolutely, the sum of Two Thousand Dollars in money at present in the hands of my bankers, The Bank of Nova Scotia, in said New Glasgow.

4. I give, devise and bequeath to my daughter Clara Ballard Lewis, wife of John Lewis, absolutely, the sum of Fifteen Hundred Dollars in money now in the said Bank of Nova Scotia.

5. I give, devise and bequeath to my son Henry Ashbel MacKay, now of Boston, in the State of Massachusetts, in the United States of America, absolutely, the sum of Fifteen Hundred Dollars in money now in the said Bank of Nova Scotia.

6. I hereby direct, authorize and empower my executors hereinafter named, as soon as convenient after the decease of my said wife Margaret MacKay, to sell the said house and lot of land mentioned in paragraph 2 hereof, and to divide the proceeds equally between my said daughter Clara Ballard Lewis and my said sons Henry Ashbel MacKay.

7. I give, devise and bequeath to my said daughter Clara Ballard Lewis and to my said son Henry Ashbel MacKay, in equal shares, all the residue of all monies belonging to me after the payment of the bequests hereinbefore mentioned and of my funeral and testamentary expenses.

8. I direct that all my furniture, household effects, books and personal property not hereinbefore bequeathed, shall, after my death, be divided as nearly as my be in equal shares between my said wife Margaret MacKay, and my said daughter Clara Ballard Lewis and my said son Henry Ashbel MacKay; and If any dispute shall arise concerning the division thereof, then I direct such division to be made by my executors hereinafter named, whose determination shall be final.

9.I hereby nominate, constitute and appoint Peter A. MacGregor, of said New Glasgow, Merchant, and Rod G. MacKay, of Stellarton, in the County of Pictou, Barrister, to be the executors of this my last Will and testament.

In Witness Whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this fifteenth day of September, in the year of our Lord One Thousand Nine Hundred and Six.

McLeod Registrar of said Court do hereby certify that the foregoing paper typed writing is a true copy of the last Will and Testament of James MacGregor MacKay late of New Glasgow, in the County of Pictou Minister of the Gospel deceased which said will was duly admitted to Probate in said Court at Pictou on the fifth day of November A.D. 1912
