Copy of Will for the Registrar of Deeds

In the name of God Amen.

I George McKay of Glengarry, in the County of Pictou and Province of Nova Scotia, being at present weak and inform of body but in full possession of all my mental faculties, an considering the uncertainty of life and the certainty of death- Do make and ordain this my last Will and Testament.

First and principally I commend my Soul to God who gave it, and my body to Christian burial. Touching such worldly means with which I have been blessed I dispose of in manner and form following, that is to say,

As a first charge upon the Estate now about to be disposed of and remised |I entail upon it a Bond by me to Donald McRae and Nancy his wife for their maintenance in food clothing and lodging for the term of their natural lives, or the life of either survivor.

To my dearly beloved wife Mary Matilda McKay I give devise and bequeath the lot of land or home farm on which I now reside together with its appurtenances, the said lot being fully described in a Deed of Donald McRae to me, To my well beloved wife the said Mary Matilda McKay,

I further give devise and bequeath a lot of land one hundred acres more or less, Situate and being near the head waters of the Big Brook so called, and more fully described in a Deed of Catherine Ross to me.

To my said well beloved wife Mary Matilda McKay, I give devise and bequeath the whole and all of my personal property of whatever nature or kind, To Have and To Hold the above enumerated bequests for so long and for long only as she remains my widow. Should she cease to remain my Widdow, then the whole of the above bequests, to revert without reserve to any surviving Son of mine whom she my said wife and my executor hereinafter mentioned may deem most capable, and suitable.

I also enjoin and command that at the death o said beloved wife the above described landed property together with such personal property remaining thereon, shall descend to any surviving son, or failing son, daughter of mine, whom she my said wife and hereafter mentioned executors may deem most fit and suitable.

I further enjoin and commend that she my said beloved wife at any time previous to her death may with the consent of my executors make over and convey the above described property to any surviving son of mine whom they in their wisdom may deem most suitable.

I now nominate and appoint my beloved brother James McKay and my friend Daniel Douglass of Marshdale in the said County of Pictou, joint executors of this my last Will and Testament, And I hereby cancel annul and revoke all and every former Wills if any be found and do declare this to be my last Will and Testament.

In witness whereof I the Testator have hereunto Subscribed my name Set my Seal on this ninth day of May A.D. 1887.

I do hereby certify that the foregoing instrument consisting of two pages, is an exact and literal copy of the last Will and Testament of George McKay late of Glengarry in the County of Pictou, Farmer, deceased, Testate, which has been duly filed and admitted to Probate in accordance with the practice of the Court.
