Estate of Alexander McKay late of Lorne, Yeoman, deceased, Testate

Copy of Will for the Registrar of Deeds

In the name of God Amen, I Alexander McKay of Lorne in the County of Pictou, and Province of Nova Scotia, Yeoman, being at present inform of body but in full and unimpaired possession of all my mental faculties, Considering the uncertainty of life and the certainty of death, I do hereby make and ordain this my last Will and Testament.

First and principally I commend my Soul to God who gave it, and my body to Christian burial, touching such worldly possessions with which I have been blessed, I give devise and bequeath in manner and form following, that is to say,

To my well beloved son Robert McKay I give devise and bequeath Four Hundred Dollars to be paid out of the personal property of my Estate.

To my dearly beloved wife Christy McKay I give devise and bequeath all my Real Estate, and the whole residue of my Personal property of whatever nature or kind, for her sole use and benefit forever, or so long as she remains a widow. In the contingency of her ceasing to be such in life, I then give devise and bequeath to my beloved daughter Margaret Ann McKay Five Hundred Dollars to be paid out of the personal property of my Estate if sufficient be found, if not to be paid otherwise in the discretion of my Executors hereinafter mentioned. In such said contingency I give devise and bequeath to my son Hugh McKay all the residue of Real Estate and Personal Property.

I hereby nominate and appoint my friend Charles McQuarrie of Lorne, and my beloved brother Hugh McKay of Pleasant Valley, joint Executors of this my said last Will and Testament.

I hereby cancel annul and revoke all and every former Will by me made if any be found, and do declare this to be my last Will and Testament.

In witness whereof I the said Testator have hereunto subscribed my name and affixed my Seal this second day of November A.D. 1888.

I do hereby certify that the foregoing instrument consisting of one & a quarter pages, is an exact and literal copy of the last Will and Testament of Alexander McKay late of Lorne in the County of Pictou, Yeoman, deceased, Testate, which has been duly filed and admitted to Probate in accordance with the practice of the Court.

Given under my hand at Pictou this 31st. day of July A.D. 1890.
