Estate of Mrs. James McEwen late of French River, Widow, deceased, Testate
Certified Copy of Will for the Registrar of Deeds
This is the last Will and Testament of Mrs. James McEwen, Widow, French River, County of Pictou, Province of Nova Scotia.
1st. – I give and devise to my son Peter McEwen his heirs and assigns my homestead Farm situate in Merigomish County aforesaid mentioned, whereon I now live to have and to hold the same to him the said Peter McEwen and his heirs and assigns forever.
2nd. - I give and devise to my Daughter Sarah A. McEwen one |Cow and the use of my room and Bed and Bedding and furniture and to be provided with a fire when necessary and to be provided for by Peter McEwen when required with a good comfortable and respectable maintenance during her lifetime, and also her Cows to be provided of the farm and maintained.
3rd. - I ordain and appoint my son James Roy as Executor of this my last Will and testament
In testimony whereof I have hereunto Set my hand and Seal & published and declared this to be my last Will and Testament in the presence of the witnesses named below this 13th. day of March A.D. 1879.

A.D. 1879 Signed Sealed published and declared by the said Janet McEwen as and for her last Will and Testament in the presence of us who in at her request, and in her presence and in the presence of each other have Subscribed our names as witnesses hereto.

I do hereby certify that the foregoing instrument consisting of one page, is an exact and literal copy of the last Will and Testament of Mrs. Janet McEwen, late of French River in the County of Pictou, Widow, deceased, Testate, which has been duly filed and admitted to Probate in accordance with the practice of the Court.
Given under my hand at Pictou this 20th. day of January A.D. 1888.
