In the name of God Amen

I Marcus A McDonald of Moose River in the County of Pictou and Province of Nova Scotia being of sound mind memory and understanding do make and ordain this my last Will and Testament in manner and form following.

First - I resign my soul in the hand of Almighty God and my body I commit to the earth to be decently buried at the discretion of my executors hereinafter names and my worldly estate I give devise and bequeath as follows

Second - It is my will that my son David Frank McDonald shall own fifty acres of the land coming to me by Alexander McDonald of moose River.

Thirdly - I give and devise to m y son Alexander W McDonald all my residuary property consisting of one hundred and fifty acres of land which I hold by two deeds one from Alexander Cumming of East River and the other deed from Alexander Fraser of Moose River together with all the livestock farming implements or whatsoever I may be possessed of at the time of my death for his use and benefit. Subject nevertheless to the following provisions condition and reservation, that is to say in the event of my beloved wife Mary McDonald surviving after my decease then in such case she should have during the term of her natural life the dwelling house in which I now reside with the following described lands viz. Beginning at the fence on the North East corner of said dwelling house thence to run south until it comes to the Brook thence eastward by said brook until it comes to three spruce trees thence North by the garden fence to the northeast corner of fence, thence west to the place of beginning.

And also that he my said son Alexander W C McDonald shall annually provide for and give my said wife for own use the following articles and goods to wit - two barrels of good wheat flour, one barrel of oatmeal, ten bushels of potatoes fifty pounds of beef, sufficient fuel be used and one half of the household furniture also that she should have the use of a horse and proper carriage when she wishes to go from home such as to church market re and further that he shall keep and feed and the proceeds to my said wife two cows and four sheep.

It is further my will that my said son Alexander W C McDonald do annually give to my son David F McDonald a two year old heifer while he remains at home assisting at farm work and further that he provide a home for his brother Angus Scott McDonald and give him a good common education and provide him sufficient food and clothing during his minority or until he can reasonably be expected to provide means to support himself it is also my will further that in the event of the death of my wife that all my real estate reverts to and be the property of my said son Alexander W C McDonald.

Lastly I ordain that my said son in Alexander W C McDonald pay my personal and all outstanding debts.

I name and constitute my wife Mary McDonald and my son Alexander W C McDonald my Executrix and Executor

In Witness Whereof I have hereto set my hand and Seal this ninth day of November in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and ninety eight.

I John D. McLeod do hereby certify that the written paper writing is a true copy of the last Will and testament of Marcus McDonald late of Moose River, in the County of Pictou, Farmer, deceased, which said will was admitted to Probate on the 19th day of December 1900
