Copy of Will for the Registrar of Deeds WILL

This is the last Will and testament of me, ADAM CARR BELL, of the Town of New Glasgow, in the County of Pictou, Senator of the Dominion of Canada, I hereby revoking all former wills at any time made by me.

I appoint my said three sons, JOHN BELL, ADAM CARR BELL and ISAAC HARTLEY BELL, hereinafter called "my trustees" to be the executors and trustees of this my Will; and I direct that "my trustees" aforesaid or a majority of them may, at any time that they may see fit, add the Eastern Trust Company of Halifax to their number as a co-trustee and co-executor of this my will.

First: I hereby bequeath to my wife, ANNIE BELL, during her life an annuity of Five Hundred Dollars, payable quarterly from and after my death.

Second: I bequeath to my daughter Martha Hartley Koph, wife of FREDERICK KOPH, during her life an annuity of Four Hundred Dollars, payable quarterly from and after my death.

Third: I bequeath to my son BASIL HALL BELL, during his life an annuity of Four Hundred Dollars, payable quarterly from and after my death; and if the said BASIL HALL BELL shall die and leave his wife surviving him, then I bequeath to her during her life an annuity of Two Hundred and Fifty Dollars, payable quarterly from and after the death of the said BASIL HALL BELL.

Fourth: I devise and bequeath to my wife , ANNIE BELL, the house property in which I live during her life, and after her death the said house property shall go into my general estate. I also give to my wife, ANNIE BELL, all my furniture, personal property and effects contained in the said house, during her life, with power to distribute any or all of such furniture, personal property and effects, at any time or times and in such manner as she may see fit amongst my children.

Fifth: I give and bequeath all the residue of my estate, real and personal, after providing for the foregoing bequeaths, to my said three sons, JOHN BELL, ADAM CARR BELL and ISAAC HARTLEY BELL, to be divided equally amongst them. I direct that all my real estate, or as much of the same as "my trustees" may see fit, shall be held in trust by "my trustees" for a period of ten years after my death, but "my trustees" shall have power at an y time or times to sell so much of the said real estate as they may deem advisable for the purpose of carrying out the provisions of this will.

Sixth: I direct that at the end of ten years after my death all my real estate then held in trust by "my trustees" shall be divided amongst my three sons, JOHN BELL, ADAM CARR BELL and ISAAC HARTLEY BELL by mutual agreement, or upon failure to agree upon a division, the whole of such real estate shall be sold, and the proceeds divided equally between the said JOHN BELL, ADAM CARR BELL and ISAAC HARTLEY BELL. Provided always, however, that the house property shall not be sold until after the death of my wife, ANNIE BELL.

Seventh: I direct that during the period when my real estate is held in trust aforesaid, if any of my said three sons shall die childless, then the entire interest of each son so dying, in all the real estate then held in trust, shall revert to or be divided equally amongst the survivor or survivors respectively, of my said three sons, JOHN BELL, ADAM CARR BELL and ISAAC HARTLEY BELL.
