Estate of John F. McDonald, late of new Glasgow, Merchant, deceased, Testate
Copy of Will for the Registrar of Deeds
In the name of God Amen.
I John F. McDonald of New Glasgow, County of Pictou, Province of Nova Scotia, being of sound mind and memory Do make publish and declare this my last Will and Testament on earth to wit.
1st. I will and bequeath to my daughter Mary Ann wife of Dr. McDonald the town lot No. 3 also to her children that is Blanche lot No. 17 and Edw. lot No.16.
2nd. I will and bequeath to my daughter Jessie, wife of Rev. J. McGregor lot No. 2, also to her children that is Katie lot No. 11, Jenny lot No. 9, Alister lot No. 10, John Fraser lot No. 14.
3rd. I will and bequeath to my daughter Florence wife of the Revd. George Murray lot No. 20, also told her children Jessie lot No. 8, Willie lot No. 21.
4th. I will and bequeath to my sons the following lots to say. Joseph lot No. 23, Charley lot No. 22, Daniel lot No. 7 Ritchie lot No. 15 and Gilbert lot No. 12.
All the abovementioned lots are on a draft of plan from survey by George Lowden of field bordering on Washington Street extension and signed by me.
5th. I will and bequeath that the field at the rear of the old homestead "known to my family as mother field" be divided into four equal parts on Donald Street, and that my Daughter Helen get the first two equal parts at the West end and that my son Gilbert get one of the said parts adjoining Helen's and that Joseph the remaining fourth part reaching the West line of garden of present homestead. I think the measurement on Donald Street is 330 feet from old homestead east line to west line of garden of present homestead and it is the property line be it more or less to be divided as above.
6th. I will and bequeath to my daughter Florence the lot of land No. 29 on plans known as Grandfather's plan.
7th. I will and bequeath to my daughter Maggie the Homestead that is the house in which I now live, with the land commencing at corner of Donald McKay's lot and along Marsh Street till it comes to within Seventy feet of James Murray's line, thence to rear of homestead lot, that is all of homestead lot except Seventy feet of end adjoining James Murray's property, the homestead lot is included within the picket fence.
Also that my daughter Helen is to have a home with Maggie in the house as long as she lives, or may require it.
All the personal property in the house I give to Maggie, also if required a barn suitable for a Cow and horse to be built by and at expense of my son J. Fred MacDonald.
8th. (The first line was inserted and initialed) I will and bequeath to my son J. Fred MacDonald all my real and personal property, Goods, Books, and Book debts except the lands and house and personal property above, and before bequeathed out of which he is to pay all my just and honest debts, retaining for his use any and all that may be over after my debts are paid.
9th. and lastly, I will and bequeath and ordain and appoint my son J. Fred MacDonald and John F. McDonald M.D.as Executors of this my last Will and testament, to see the same duly preformed.

Codicil No. 1 -
In addition to the foregoing I will and bequeath and ordain that my son J. Fred MacDonald pay in addition to my just and legal debts out of his share of my estate the following to say To my daughter Mary, One Hundred Dollars, To my daughter Jessie Fifty Dollars, To my daughter Florence Fifty Dollars, the above is In addition to their share before mentioned.

I do hereby certify that the foregoing instrument consisting of two and a quarter pages is an exact and literal copy of the last Will & Testament and Codicil thereto, of John F. McDonald, late of New Glasgow, in the County of Pictou, deceased, testate, which has been duly filed and admitted to Probate, in accordance with the practice of the Court.
Given under my hand at Pictou, this fifth day of October A.D. 1882.
