Copy of Will for the Registrar of Deeds.
The last will and testament of John D. McDonald of Pictou Island, Province of Nova Scotia.
I John D. MacDonald considering the uncertainty of this mortal life and being of sound mind and memory, (Blessed be God for the same) do you make and publish this my last Will and testament, in manner and form following. That is to say.
That I give and bequeath to my beloved wife Katie my farm with all my right, title, and interest therein bounded a follows (that is to say). On the west by lands in possession of the heirs of the late Malcolm McDonald, on the north by the straits of Northumberland, on the East by lands in possession of Hector McDonald and on the South by said straits of Northumberland, together with all and Singular the buildings thereon and appurtenances thereunto belonging with whatsoever form or other implements as well as stock in Horses, cattle, sheep, or any stock I may die seized of, for her use and benefit during her natural lifetime and to have and to hold the same without lot or hindrance, from any other person, or persons whatsoever.
And it is also my will that all timber or other lumber or material growing on my said farm be owned and controlled by my said wife to use or dispose of as she or my Executors hereinafter mentioned may see fit and proper.
And it is also my will that at the decease of my said beloved wife, my beloved daughter Ella shall inherit and take possession of the aforesaid farm and appurtenances, already mentioned.
Please Almighty God to call me away from this transitory and mortal life, while my said daughter "Ella" is a minor that she be well and decently fed and clothed and educated in the common rudimentary Education such as reading, writing, and arithmetic until she becomes of mature age.
And it is also my desire that my hereinafter mentioned Executors shall not allow any person or persons whatsoever to trespass on the same premises by hauling or carting or unnecessarily traveling or driving through the said property and
I hereby appoint Hugh McLean and Duncan MacDonald (West), to be my Sole executors for this my last Will and testament.
Hereby revoking all former testamentary wills made by me.
In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and Seal the 29th day of November in the year of our Lord, One thousand eight hundred and ninety eight. ( A.D.1898)

The above instrument was now subscribed by John D. MacDonald in presence of each of us, and at his request Sign our names as attesting witnesses.

I hereby certify that the foregoing instrument consisting of two pages or thereabouts is an exact and literal copy of the last Will and testament of John D. MacDonald, late of Pictou Island, in the County of Pictou, Farmer, deceased, Testate which has been duly filed and admitted to Probate in accordance with the practice of the Court.
Given under my hand at Pictou, this 9th. Day of May A.D. 1899.
