Estate of John McDonald late of Stellarton, Farmer, deceased, Testate
Copy of Will for the Registrar of Deeds
I John McDonald of Stellarton in the County of Pictou, being conscious of the uncertainty of human life and being of sound disposing mind & memory – do make and publish this my last Will and testament.
First. $800 I give devise and bequeath unto my beloved wife Catherine McDonald eight hundred dollars, the same to be invested for her benefit by my executors hereinafter mentioned and that shall draw from that fund and the interest accruing ie sufficient and adequate amount for a comfortable maintenance during her natural life, the same to be drawn from time to time as required and paid over to her by my executors, and it is further ordered that may remain of this bequest, at the time of the death of my wife may be equally divided among my surviving heirs as defined in this instrument and further that my beloved wife Catherine is to have and hold this homestead and owned and occupied at Stellarton together with all my real and personal property during her natural life.
Second. $300 I give devise and bequeath unto my son Simon McDonald three hundred dollars.
Third. $200 I give devise and bequeath unto my daughter Margaret McDonald Two hundred dollars.
Fourth. $200 I give devise and bequeath unto my daughter Mary Jane McDonald Two hundred dollars
Fifth. $100 I give devise and bequeath unto my Granddaughter Sadie McKay the sum of One hundred dollars.
Sixth. I order and direct that the property owned by me at the Iron Ore, Blanchard, if unsold at my decease, shall be sold by my executors when Such Sale will be approved by a majority of my surviving heirs.
Seventh. I give devise and bequeath unto my son Thomas McDonald that certain lot of land |situate at |Plymouth purchased from George Little and recorded in the registry office Pictou, Book 90 Pages 479.480. & 481, said property to revert to Thos. D. McDonald at the death of my wife until then to be hers.
Lastly. I order and command that out of the proceeds of my estate all my legal debts be paid and funeral expenses and that any residue then remaining shall be equally divided among the surviving heirs, and hereby appoint James N. McDonald of Bridgeville and Thomas D. McDonald of Plymouth my executors of this my last Will & testament.
In witness whereof I have hereunto Set my hand Seal and publish and declare this to be my last will and testament in presence of the witnesses named below, this 10th. Day of November in the year of our Lord 1892.

I do hereby certify that the foregoing instrument consisting of two pages is an exact and literal copy of the last Will and Testament of John McDonald, late of Stellarton in the County of Pictou, Farmer, deceased, Testate, which has been duly filed and admitted to Probate in accordance with the practice of the Court.
Given under my hand at Pictou this 20th. day of January A.D. 1896.
