Will of John McDonald, deceased

Certified Copy for Reg of Deeds

I John McDonald of Lorne in the County of Pictou and Province of Nova Scotia Farmer being of sound and disposing mind and memory do make publish and declare this to be my last will and Testament and as to my worldly estate and all the property real and personals to which I am now seized and possessed, I devise bequeath and dispose thereof in the manner following to wit –

1. I give devise and bequeath to my wife Johanna McDonald two hundred Dollars now in the Nova Scotia Bank New Glasgow also one cow during her widowhood.

2. I give devise and bequeath to my daughter Margaret F*** of Boston the sum of fifty Dollars now in the Bank of Nova Scotia

3. I give devise and bequeath to my daughter Anna C Ross of Boston the sum of fifty Dollars now in the Bank of Nova Scotia

4. I give devise and bequeath to Hannah Belle Melville the sum of fifty Dollars now in the Bank of Nova Scotia

5. I give devise and bequeath to my Grandson John Alexander Melville McDonald all my real property forever which I now own seized and in possession

6. I give devise and bequeath to my said Grandson all my personal property cow excepted that is to say the one ** included

7. Now the condition of this will is such that is to say that my Grandson the said John Alexander Melville McDonald will remain on the farm during my wife’s widowhood to leave in her possession the *** half of the house leading from the Hall to give and keep her in firewood during her widowhood

Lastly I nominate and appoint Donald McDonald of Lorne as executor of this my Will and Testament.

McLeod Registrar of said Court do hereby certify that the foregoing paper writing is a true copy of the last Will and Testament of John McDonald late of Lorne in the County of Pictou Farmer deceased which said will was duly admitted to Probate in said Court at Pictou on the 9th day of June AD 1903.
