"TOWN HOCKEY LEAGUE WITH 4 TEAMS HAS BEEN FORMED

Stars, Banks, Academy and Railway Names of the Teams - Dates for the Opening Games.

The young fellows of the town have decided not to be without the keen and vigorous sport of hockey and have formed a local league of four teams, the Stars, the Banks, the Academy and the Railway. A schedule has been drawn up and arrangements made for the use of the ice at the skating rink for matches and practices. 

The officials of the league are as follows:

President - Dr. J. J. MacKenzie

Vice-President and Treasurer - J. Chisholm

Secretary - S.C. Rose.

The managing committee is composed of the officers and H. Corbin, of the Stars; H. Tanner, of the Banks; William R. Sproull, of the Academy, and G. McGregor, of the Railway; also C.H. Wisener and W.A. Harris. 

The schedule, as far as drawn up, is as follows: 

Jan. 13 - Bankers vs. Stars

Jan. 20 - Academy vs. Railway

Jan. 27 - Stars vs. Academy

Feb. 3 - Sars vs. Academy

Feb. 10 - Bankers vs. Academy

Feb. 17 - Stars vs. Railway

Feb. 24 - Bankers vs. Stars

March 3 - Academy vs. Railway

March 10 - Railway vs. Bankers

March 17 - Star vs. Academy

The boys would appreciate it if some generous-minded lover of sport would donate a trophy, such as a silver cup.

The first game in the town hockey league was played in the skating rink on Wednesday night between the Stars and teh Bankers, the Stars winning by a score of 11 to 8. B. McLaren refereed. The lineup was as follows: -

Veniot got knocked out by being struck by the puck and Sarson took his place."
