Edwin W. McDonald served as the chief for 6 years in Pictou. He also ran a salvage company and bought a few buildings in Pictou. He opened a soda shop/ice cream parlour called 'Eddie's' in the 1930s/1940s, which lasted until 1960s. A stain glass window at the Pictou United Church is dedicated to McDonald.
