Description Letter for James Fraser

“[Brovallum?] 5th May 1834

5 May 1834

Dear Sir

[Oaur?] Dear Brother,

We do ourselves the pleasure of writing you this letter to let you know that we and our families are in good health of present and we hope this will find you and your family enjoying the same [wessing?s] – as each of us wish to say a little [waspecting?] ourselves and families we must distinguish ourselves by giving our names in the order we speak. First then Christina addresses you and wants [my?] to say that the cause of my writing you just now is to let you know that I am strongly [wyed?] by my son Hugh to say that he intends to go to America the first season as a fam servant and must know from you what wages could he expect in the 12 months and if you think that he could not get employ much in that capacity what could he get there to do – the wages which he gets here is £4 and the half you had and broad [alays?] with it. I have next to inform you that that I have a son called William married in Easter Ross doing well. I have also a daughter married at Feintook of the Black Isle called Catharine. She is married to a farmer who pay £20 of [wut?]. I have also to say that I have other three children, the youngest with myself and the other two at [sen?].

Your sister Mary next would [by?] to say that from the very flatterings accounts given her and family by Mr. William Fraser from Pictou they [ana?] or twice thought of making ready to go to America this season but the thoughts of having you in America to consult [in?] by you would let us know if what Mr. Fraser advanced was correct. The stated that my hasband would get his pension in America she [was here?] which is £22 per [annum?]. That we would live better and [aheper?] there than here and such like. Now if these statements [be?] correct you will do me a singular favour give each of us the information we [aguure?] I myself say that I have of a family [we Donald?] William, Ann, James and Janet. The oldest is about 20 years and he is willing to emigrate. Mr. Fraser from Pictou gave us a good [ood?] of N. Scotia, but I fear it is very cold, so much so that John my husband would not like it after [keys?] in his young days in hot Climates. If we went to America mention the follow we should go to. He wishes me to send you his best respect in which he is joined by myself and family. Christina and her family desire to be [womenhred?] to you are. Be sure to give us [a full?] letter as early as possible. And [brebuen?] us to be.

Dear brother, your affectionate sisters

Christina and Margaret Fraser

P.S. My and your sister wishes you to give him compliments to Ann McKay your sister in law – M. Fraser
