Will of James McDonald, deceased
Certified Copy for Reg of Deeds
In the name of GOD Amen.
I, James McDonald of Lismore in the County of Pictou, and the Province of Nov Scotia do make and publish this is my last will and testament hereby revoking all wills or testamentary dispositions by me at any time heretofore made.
1st. I appoint my son-in-law Alexander McKinnon of Lismore in the County of Pictou and the Province of Nov Scotia as aforesaid as my sole executor of this my last will and testament directing my said executor to pay all my just debts and funeral and testamentary dispositions as soon as expedient after my decease.
2nd. I direct that my beloved wife Margaret McDonald shall have a decent home and maintenance on my property while she lives and that two young cows shall belong to her as her personal property.
3rd. I give, devise and bequeath all that farm on which I live at Lismore, consisting of one hundred and thirty acres more or less, with all the buildings thereon to my son Alexander McDonald now living with me at Lismore, his heirs and assigns forever.
4th. I give devise and bequeath my farm at Upper Baileys Brook and more particularly described as follows:- bounded on the North by land owned by Alex. Thompson, on the West by land once owned by Angus McEachern, on the South by Harsen’s Grant and on the East by land owned by Thompson, - to my two sons Hugh and Alexander McDonald in equal shares between them directing that if at any time they or any one of them will wish to have said farm divided the older one will make the dividing line and the younger one will have his choice of the two divisions in which it may be divided.
5th. I give, devise and bequeath my wood lot lying to the south of my said farm at Upper Baileys Brook and adjoining it and consisting of about one hundred acres more or less, to my two sons Hugh and Alexander McDonald in equal shares directing that if at any time they or any one of them wish to have said lot divided between them the division be made in the same manner or a prescribed in the case of my farm at Upper Bailey’s Brook already referred to.
6th. I direct that my son Alexander McDonald, in consideration of getting my farm and buildings thereon and personal property at Lismore, pay one half of the debt on the farm on which my son Hugh McDonald now resides, that is, the sum of Eighty dollars to help pay such debt.
7th. I direct that my beloved daughter Margaret McDonald will have her home and maintenance on my property at Lismore, while she lives or remains unmarried.
Signed and declared as and for his last Will and Testament by the said James McDonald on the 6th. Day of April in the year of our Lord one thousand nine hundred and six.

I John D. McLeod Registrar of said Court do hereby certify that the foregoing paper writing is a true copy of the last Will and Testament of James McDonald late of Lismore in the County of Pictou Farmer deceased which said will was duly admitted to Probate in said Court at Pictou on the second day of December AD 1912.
Witness my hand at Pictou aforesaid this second day of December AD 1912.
