Estate of Duncan McDonald, late of Springville, deceased, Testate
Copy of Will for the Registrar of Deeds
In the name of God, Amen.
I Duncan McDonald, Merchant, of Springville, East River, County of Pictou, and Province of Nova Scotia, do make this my last Will and Testament in manner and form following -
First. I give and bequeath to my beloved daughter Margaret Ann McDonald, the house in which I live at Springville together with the furniture therein and the buildings and land connected therewith, to be used and disposed of by her a she may see proper.
Secondly. I give and bequeath to the said Margaret Ann McDonald the one half of the goods which shall be in the store at the time of my death, the remaining half of goods, I give and bequeath to my beloved son Duncan McDonald.
Thirdly- I give and bequeath to the said Margaret Ann McDonald one third part of the remaining portion of my real estate and personal estate.
Fourthly – With regard to that part of my property which remains after the above bequests have been handed over to the persons named and my debts paid, I dispose of it as follows. I give and bequeath of it to my beloved son Duncan McDonald three hundred and fifty dollars.
I give and bequeath of it to my beloved son Thomas McDonald, two hundred and fifty dollars.
I give and bequeath of it to my beloved daughter Mary Grant, wife of Albert McN. Grant two hundred and fifty dollars, together with the sewing machine, and
I give and bequeath of it to my beloved granddaughter Mary McLean wife of James McLean forty dollars.
Fifthly. In case that the portion of my estate which I have set apart for the last mentioned bequests, namely, three hundred and fifty dollars to my son Duncan McDonald, two hundred and fifty dollars to my daughter Mary Grant and forty dollars to my Granddaughter Mary McLean be not sufficient to pay these bequests in full, I order that said portion of my estate shall be divided among the persons to whom it is willed according to the rate proportionate to the sum bequeathed to each of the said legatees – namely Duncan McDonald, Thomas McDonald, Mary Grant, and Mary McLean.
Sixthly. I name and appoint as my executors of this my last Will and testament, with full power to dispose of my property in the aforesaid manner, my son Duncan McDonald, and the Rev. A. McLean Sinclair.
In witness whereof I hereunto Set my hand and Seal this twenty first day of April in the year of our Lord one thousand Eight hundred and Eighty five.

I do hereby certify that the foregoing instrument consisting of two pages, is an exact and literal copy of the last Will and Testament of Duncan McDonald late of Springville, East River in the County of Pictou, Esquire, deceased, testate, which has been duly filed and admitted to Probate in accordance with the practice of the Court.
