Copy of Will for the Registrar of Deeds

I Donald McDonald of Merigomish in the County of Pictou, and Province of Nova Scotia, conscious of the uncertainty of death, and being of sound disposing mind, do make and declare this to be my last Will and Testament, in the manner following, that is to say,

First. After all my legal Debts are paid, I give and devise to my beloved daughters Mary, Catherine, and Elizabeth Ann, all my moveable and personal property, principally consisting of farming utensils, and house furniture, of whatsoever description.

I give and devise to my said daughters Mary, Catherine, and Elizabeth Ann, three cows, and one horse now on the farm.

I give and devise to my said daughters Mary, Catherine, and Elizabeth Ann, that portion of my dwelling house consisting of the Kitchen and two bedrooms leading from it, with the privilege of the front door and hall.

I give and devise to my said daughters Mary, Catherine, and Elizabeth Ann, that piece of land bought from Charles McVicar, and described as follows, commencing at a stake about one hundred and fifty feet west of my dwelling house, and running west to the shore of Merigomish harbor, thence North to another stake or stone at said shore, thence East at right angles to last mentioned line along the shore to a stake at right angles to the first, thence South to the place of beginning containing ten acres more or less.

I give and devise to my said daughters Mary, Catherine, and Elizabeth Ann, the whole products of the farm whereon I reside for the summer of eighteen hundred and ninety four, and also if needed the use of the barns, until the summer of eighteen hundred and ninety five.

I give and devise to my beloved son Angus the lot piece or parcel of land at Merigomish described as follows, beginning at the North East Corner of the lands of Angus Grant, now James Grant, on the partition line of the heirs of Donald Campbell and at a stake on the northeast side of the Marsh land, thence running westwardly along the north side of the said Marsh, following the course of the Marsh until it nears the shore, thence Eastwardly following the course of the shore round the point until it meets the late Donald Campbell, thence running Southwardly along the partition line of the heirs of the late Donald Campbell to the place of beginning containing four acres more or less.

I appoint my  son Donald, and Dan Stewart of Pine tree, the executors of this my said last Will and Testament.

In witness whereof I  hereby my hand and Seal Subscribe and Set this fifth day of July in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and ninety four in the presence of the witnesses whose names are hereunto appended and who in my presence and in the presence of each other have seen me duly Sign and Seal this my last Will and Testament, thereby annulling any former will and Testament, I may have made.

I do hereby certify that the foregoing instrument consisting of two pages, is an exact and literal copy of the last Will and Testament of Donald McDonald late of Merigomish in the County of Pictou, Farmer, deceased, Testate, which has been duly filed and admitted to Probate in accordance with the practice of the Court.

Given under my hand at Pictou this 9th day of March A.D. 1899.
