Description S.S. Stanley

On back:

"Note: this version has had ice painted in"

Alternate Details

The S.S. Stanley was the Canadian government's response to their promise to Prince Edward Island. The promise was to provide transport on and off the island, which in turn helped convince P.E.I. to join Confederation. The ship sailed along the Northumberland Strait for two decades.

This photo was retouched (i.e. ice was added) and then rephotograph to make it appear as though the situation was worse than it was.
