Copy of Will for the Registrar of Deeds

The last Will and Testament of me Daniel McDonald.

I give bequeath and devise to my son George all my interest in a certain Lot of land situate on or in the neighborhood of barney’s River, and hold conjointly by me with Wm. F. McKenzie as appears by Deed dated the 24th. Day of September A.D. 1873. And registered in the registrar’s Office Pictou on the 13th Feby. 1865 in Liber 11 Folio 631.

All the rest or reminder of my property of which I may die (word scratched out) possessed real and personal I give bequeath and devise to my wife Mary and my daughters Amelia, Sarah, Bessie, and Annie, one half to my wife Mary and the remaining half to my Four daughters names above Share and Share alike and I order that the Homestead at New Glasgow be retained for a period of Ten years after my decease as a home for my wife and such of my daughters as elect to live with her, and that during the space of the ten years specified above, the Homestead must not be sold or any portion of it, without the consent of my wife and Four daughters or of as many of there as are at the time living. The devise above to my wife is in lieu of and in consideration of the relinquishment by her of all her rights of Dower.

 I hereby appoint my wife Mary, and daughter Sarah to be Executrix of this my Will and Testament, made and executed at New Glasgow on the sixteenth day of October A.D. One thousand Eight Hundred and Eighty.

I do hereby certify that the foregoing instrument consisting of one page, is an exact and literal copy of the last Will and Testament of Daniel McDonald late of New Glasgow in the County of Pictou, Inspector of Schools, deceased, Testate, which has been duly filed and admitted to Probate in accordance with the practice of the Court.

Given under my hand at Pictou this 14th day of May A.D. 1883.
