Estate of Angus Ross late of New Glasgow, Watchmaker, deceased, Testate

Copy of Will for the Registrar of Deeds

I Angus Ross of New Glasgow in the County of Pictou and Province of Nova Scotia Watchmaker do make and publish this my last Will and Testament.

First I give device and bequeath unto my daughter in law Elizabeth Jane Ross a lot of land and premises situated in New Glasgow on the west side of Provost and South side of McLean Streets and also the Piano an eight day Clock now in my house upon condition however that the said Elizabeth Jane Ross do pay to my Executors Four Hundred and Fifty Dollars towards payment of my debts, and also the Doctors bill for attendance upon me, and the above named property is made liable for payments of said sums.

Second I give devise and bequeath unto my wife Christina Ross the lot and house in which I now reside situated on James Street to have and to hold during the term of her natural life and after her death then to my grandson John Robert Anderson upon condition however, that the said John Robert Anderson shall live with, maintain and support my said wife during her natural life to her reasonable satisfaction and to the entire satisfaction of my Executors, and upon the further conditions that the said John Robert Anderson shall pay my said Executors the balance of my debts above the amounts hereinbefore mentioned, and shall also at the death of my said wife pay the amount of Two Hundred Dollars to my grandson Angus Daniel Ross.

and in the event of the said John Robert Anderson failing or refusing to make payments hereinbefore mentioned or to maintain and support my said wife as aforesaid then in such case and upon my Executors filing in the Probate Court a statement in writing for such failure or refusal the said property last hereby devised shall be and become the property of my daughter in law the said Elizabeth Jane Ross, providing she assumes and preforms the trust hereby imposed upon the said John Robert Anderson, and if she also refuses or fails to perform said Trust my executors shall sell my said property and provide for my said wife during her life or so long as the funds may last, and shall pay the balance if any remain at her death unto my said grandson Angus Daniel Ross.

I also devise and direct that the said John Robert Anderson shall have the right to occupy the shop in which he now works if he so desires yielding, and paying unto my said daughter in law Elizabeth Jane Ross, such reasonable rent as my Executors shall fix and determine.

I empower and direct my Executors to sell or realize on mining Stock held by me in the St Mary's Mining Company and to pay over the proceeds of such sale as follows. One half to the said Angus Daniel Ross and the other half in equal shares to the children of Andrew Anderson.

I give and devise my household furniture and all other personal property (except goods and implements of my trade in the shop) unto my said wife for life, and after her death the same to follow the bequest herein secondly made'

I give and devise unto the said John Robert Anderson the Stock and goods in the shop and all my implements of trade.

I nominate and appoint George Murray M. D. and Alexander McHardy Esquire my Executors.

I do hereby certify that the foregoing instrument consisting of two pages, is an exact and literal copy of the last Will and Testament of Angus Ross late of New Glasgow, in the County of Pictou, Watchmaker, deceased, Testate, which has been duly filed and admitted to Probate in accordance with the practice of the Court.

Given under my hand at Pictou, this ninth.day of May A.D. 1885.
