Jas D B Fraser, Esq, Pictou
Halifax 25 Sept 1846
Dear Brother
I purchased at auction 5 gross qt bottles and 6 gross pt of 20/ and 21/ for gross and will find you 1 crate of large and 2 or 3 gross of small by first vessel with the other articles ordered
I received an invoice from Henshaw & Co. and they quote alcohol 5.8* -cochineal 1.65- morphine 3.75 - camphor* 33- saliratus 5 - quinine 2.45 - ma* 12 - Y/u* turpentine 5.8*
I have waited till now for Mr. Hydes return and as he is not come I have taken a small house on Jacobs Hill at £32 per year. It is very small and old but a very pleasant situation and comfortable. It is about two minutes walk. The other I thought of taking would be at least 12 minutes or nearly one mile which is entirely too far. I would much sooner have had the advice of Mr. H but it would not do to loose this for fear I would have to take the other. It will not cost me so much to furnish this one as it is very small. May we expect a visit from you this year
Pay Dr. Anderson 20/- the balance of Margarets H abums* account less 4/6 paid tnickage and frieght on the bag of seed from Scotland last spring and charge to me
Your afft Brother
