Estate of Alexander McDonald, late of Westville, Farmer, deceased, Testate
Copy of Will for the Registrar of Deeds
In the name of God, Amen. The twenty eighth day of June in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and Seventy nine. I Alexander McDonald of Westville in the County of Pictou and Province of Nova Scotia Being weak of Body but of perfect mind and memory thanks be given to God.
Therefore calling into mind the mortality of the body, Knowing that it is appointed unto all men once to die, Do make public and ordain this my last Will and testament. That is to say principally and first of all I recommend my Soul unto the hands of Almighty God who gave it, and my body I recommend to the earth to be buried in decent Christian burial nothing doubting but at the general resurrection, I shall receive the same again by the Almighty power of God.
And as touching such worldly estate wherewith it hath pleased God to bless me with in this life, I give devise, and dispose of the same, in the following manner and form.
First - I give and bequeath to Alexander James McDonald my beloved grandson, the sum of fifty dollars ($50) lawful money of the Dominion of Canada, to be raised and levied out of my estate, goods, and chattels, and paid to him by my executors hereafter names, when he becomes twenty one years old.
Also, I give and bequeath to Williamina McDonald my beloved granddaughter the sum of fifty dollars ($50) lawful money of the Dominion of Canada, to be raised and levied out of my estate, goods, and chattels, and paid to her by my executors hereafter names, when she becomes twenty one years old.
Also, I give and bequeath to my well beloved daughter Margaret McDonald, all and Singular my lands, messuages and tenements, goods, and chattels, household furniture, and all things owned by me not mentioned above, by her freely to be possessed and enjoyed for her own proper use and benefit.
And I do hereby constitute, nominate, appoint and ordain John Falconer, Blacksmith of Green Hill and Margaret McDonald of Westville my Daughter Executor and Executrix of this my last Will and testament.
And I do hereby appoint and ordain that if either of my grandchildren mentioned above namely Alexander J. McDonald or Williamina McDonald die before attainting the age of twenty one years, that then the sums bequeathed to either of them deceased, Shall revert back to my daughter Margaret McDonald
Also, I do hereby utterly disallow, revoke, and disclaim all and every other former testaments, wills, legacies, bequests, and executors by me in any ways before named, willed and bequeathed, ratifying and confirming this and no other, to be my last Will and Testament.
In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and Seal, the day and year above written.

I do hereby certify that the foregoing instrument consisting of two pages, is an exact and literal copy of the last Will and Testament of Alexander McDonald, late of Westville in the County of Pictou, Farmer, deceased, Testate, which has been duly filed and admitted to Probate in accordance with the practice of the Court.
Given under my hand at Pictou, this 30th day of July A.D. 1888.
