Estate of Thomas Ballantyne, late of Woodburn, Farmer, deceased, Testate
Copy of Will for the Registrar of Deeds
I Thomas Ballantyne of Woodburn in the County of Pictou, Farmer, being of sound discerning mind and memory do hereby make this my last Will and testament, hereby revoking al former wills made by me.
1st. First, I give devise and unto my son Jacob and his heirs forever, that part of the farm which we now occupy and reside in, that is all between my son David`s line and the shore, together with the adjoining lots containing Eighteen acres more or less, which I bought from Eliza Christison, also the one half of the rear lot of the old farm on the north side, with all the Houses, Building, rights and privileges thereto belonging, excepting the house in which we now live, which shall be reserved for the use of my beloved wife Elizabeth during her natural life and also for my daughter Margaret during her life or until marriage. I also give unto my son Jacob all the farming implements stock and crops of whatever kind may be on the farm belonging to me at the time of my decease.
2nd Second. I give and bequeath unto my beloved wife Elizabeth all my household furniture and effects for her own use and benefit and disposal.
3rd. Third. I order that my beloved wife Elizabeth be properly and fitly provided for by my son Jacob during her natural life.
4th. Fourth. I give devise and bequeath unto my son Roderick and his heirs forever all that certain lot of land purchased by me from Eliza Christison Admitx. of the late Daniel Christison by Deed bearing date Dec. 3rd. 1868. Bounded in the west by land now in possession of one Angus Sutherland, on the north east and south by lands belonging to David Ballantyne, containing sixty acres more or less, together with the southern half of the rear lot of the old farm.
5th. Fifth. I give and bequeath unto my son David the sum of Fifty Dollars to be paid by my executors hereinafter named.
6th. Sixth. I order that my executors hereinafter names, shall collect all debts and monies due me, and pay all lawful debts and expenses that may be required my estate, and that they shall have a suitable monument placed at my grave, and my executors hereinafter named shall pay to my son Robert the sum of One Hundred Dollars, to my daughters, Mary, Margaret, Elizabeth Jane, and Victoria the sum of Two Hundred Dollars each. Any balance that remains after paying the legacies above mentioned and expenses in connection with my estate, I order to be paid to my daughter Margaret.
7th. Seventh. I nominate and appoint my beloved wife Elizabeth Executrix, and John D. McQueen, Esq. of Little Harbor Executor of this my said last Will and Testament, hereby revoking all or any former Wills made by me.
In witness whereof I the said Thomas Ballantyne have to this my last Will and testament set my hand and Seal this Sixth day of June One Thousand eight hundred and ninety six.

I do hereby certify that the foregoing instrument consisting of two pages, is an exact and literal copy of the last Will and Testament of Thomas Ballantyne late of Woodburn in the County of Pictou, Farmer, deceased, testate, which has been duly filed and admitted to Probate in accordance with the practice of the Court.
