Estate of William R. Logan, late of Riverton, Farmer, deceased, Testate

Copy of Will for the Registrar of Deeds

Know all men by these presents that I William R. Logan of Riverton in the County of Pictou, Farmer, being of sound discerning mind and memory do hereby make publish and declare this my last Will and Testament.

1st.  I give and bequeath to my beloved           Robina Fraser, my shop and lot in the village of Stellarton for her own use and benefit forever.

2nd. I give and bequeath to my said         Robina Fraser, the following personal property viz - Her choice of a Cow, and her choice of all the Poultry, all the furniture in the spare room viz. one Lounge, Six chairs, Table, Stove, window Blinds, Carpet, Curtains, and any other articles contained therein, Also one Bureau, one Sett, one Butter Crock, Six pressure crocks, Six Tables spoons, Six Tea Spoons, Four Knives & forks, the Small Clock, one wringer, one Lamp, One Iron, one preserve Kettle, one Feather Bed made by her, one Bed Stead, All the Blankets & quilts re belonging to said Bed, one third of all the towelling Table cloths Sheets and Pillow cases, one Inlet Sett, Six Floor matts, one clothes Screen, one wash tub, The Christal tea dishes, The Bee Hive, one Stretcher, all the articles in our Bedroom, the large wheel and Reel.

3rd. I give and bequeath to my daughter Jessie One Feather bed and bedding, The Bird eye table, The Wash stand that I gave her, and the Shares in the New Glasgow Marine Insurance Company, Four large spoons, Six tea spoons, The Blue Chest, one half the dishes that are in use, The large Clock, Fifty dollars in Cash to be paid to her by my son James, and one Cow provided she should get married. She is also to have and enjoy the privilege of a Home in the old Homestead with my said son James until her marriage.

4th. I give and bequeath to my daughter Christy one feather bed and bedding providing she returns home. I also give and bequeath her the sum of Forty dollars in Cash to be paid to her by son James. She shall also have and enjoy the privilege of a Home in the old Homestead with my said son James until her marriage.

5th. I give and bequeath to my son James C. Logan my Farm with all the buildings and privileges thereto belonging and upon which I now live and referred to above as the old Homestead for his own use benefit and behoof for ever, with the understanding that he shall pay to my daughter Jessie Fifty dollars and Christy Forty dollars in Cash as above bequeathed to them and they shall, providing they remain unmarried have and enjoy the privilege of a Home with him as above referred to.

6th. I also give and bequeath to my said son James C. Logan the Horses and remainder of the farm stock of Cattle ie Sheep and all my farming implements, Carts, Carriages and personal effects of all descriptions after providing for the above bequests that I may die possessed of, and my gold watch for his own benefit and behoof for ever.

7th. I hereby appoint John McKay and James McKay of Riverton,  and Executors of this my  last Will and Testament.

I do hereby certify that the foregoing instrument consisting of two pages, is an exact and literal copy of the last Will and Testament of William R. Logan late of Riverton, in the County of Pictou, Farmer, deceased, Testate, which has been duly filed and admitted to Probate in accordance with the practice of the Court.

Given under my hand at Pictou, this 10th day of April A.D. 1885.
