Estate of James Lauder, late of River John, Mason, deceased, Testate

 

Copy of Will for the Registrar of Deeds

 

I, James Lauder of River John in the County of Pictou, Province of Nova Scotia, being in good health and soundness of mind, but feeling that age and infirmity are coming upon me, do set about putting my house in order and make this my last Will and testament.

 

I leave devise and bequeath all my real estate and personal property to my beloved wife Christy for her own use and benefit.

 

If anything is left after her death I hereby direct that it shall be sold and the proceeds applied to some religious object in connection with the Presbyterian Church of which I am an elder, and I leave the choice of objects to the Rev. H. B. McKay our present minister if he shall be then living but if her is not then living his successor in office shall make the appropriations.

 

I hereby appoint the rev. H. B. McKay to take charge of all my papers and to make use of them in preparing a short biography, the expense of which shall be taken out of the balance which may remain if any.

 

I hereby nominate and appoint my beloved wife Christy and David Tattrie Esqr. And Rev. H.B. McKay to be the executors of this my last Will and testament, and I hereby revoke cancel and annul all former wills, legacies, bequests i.e. whatsoever, and declare this as my last Will and testament on the Tenth  day of April One Thousand eight hundred and Eighty.

I do hereby certify that the foregoing instrument, consisting of one page, is an exact and literal copy of the last Will and Testament of James Lauder late of River John in the County of Pictou, Mason, deceased, Testate, which has been duly filed and admitted to Probate in accordance with the practice of the Court.

Given under my hand at Pictou, in the County of Pictou, this 20th day of March A.D. 1884.
