Collie and Wife To Charles MacLennan Deed Consideration $ 1100.00 THIS INDENTURE made the Fourth day of June in the year of Our Lord one thousand right hundred and Eighty-nine. Between Robert S. Collie of Toney River in the County of Pictou farmer and Mary C. Collie his Wife of the one Part, and Charles MacLennan of River John in the County of Pictou aforesaid Esquire of the other part, Witnesseth, that the said Robert S. collie and Mary C. Collie his Wife for and in consideration of one thousand one hundred dollars of lawful money of Canada to the said Robert S. Collie in hand well and truly paid by the said Charles MacLennan at or before the sealing and delivery of these Presents, the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged, Do and Each of them Doth grant, bargain, sell, alien, enfeoff, release, and confirm, unto the said Charles MacLennan his HEIRS and ASSIGNS, All that lot of land, situate, lying and being at Toney River aforesaid and known as the Arthur Lot, Bounded and described as follows, namely --- Beginning at a hemlock tree, being the Southern angle of the Campbell lot of lands, so called, thence to run South fifty degrees East one hundred and ninety-six rods along the land of Lauchlin Johnston and others to the lands of Duncan McKenzie, thence along said land two hundred and thirty rods North forty degrees East to a hemlock tree, thence North fifty degrees West along the lands of McMillan, McKenzie and Fraser until it connects to the Eastern angle of the Campbell, thence on said land South forty degrees West two hundred and thirty rods to the place of beginning containing two hundred and seventy five acres more or less and the, buildings, hereditaments, easements, and appurtenances to the same belonging, and the reversions, remainders, rents, issues and profit thereof, and all the estate, right, title, interest, property, claim and demand, whatever, at law and in equity of the said Robert S. Collie and of the said Mary C. Collie his Wife in right of her dower or otherwise of, in or to the same TO HAVE AND TO HOLD the said above granted and described land and premises with the appurtenances, unto, and to the use of said Charles MacLennan his Heirs and Assigns forever. And the said Robert S. Collie for himself his Heirs, executors and administrators doth hereby covenant with the said Charles MacLennan his heirs and assigns : That He the said Robert S. Collie hath in himself a good, sure, perfect and indefeasable estate of inheritance in fee simple in the said land and premises and hath also good, right, full power, and absolute authority, to grant and convey the same, in manner and form aforesaid according to the true intent and meaning hereof. And also That the said Charles MacLennan and his heirs and assigns, shall and may, at all times hereafter, peaceably and quietly, hold and enjoy the said land and premises, with the appurtenances without hindrance or disturbance of, from, or by the said Robert S. Collie or any other person or persons whomsoever lawfully claiming the same, or any part hereof. And, also, that the said Robert S. Collie and his heirs, the said land and premises, unto the Charles MacLennan his heirs and assigns, against the lawful claims and demands of all persons, shall and will by these presents WARRANT, and for ever defend. Collie. wife of Robert S. Collie, mentioned on the foregoing indenture, who having been by me examined separate and apart from her said husband, did declare and acknowledge that she executed the said indenture, as and for her act and deed, without fear, threat or compulsion, of, from or by her said husband, and for a full release of all her claims to the land (or ass the case may be ) therein described.
