Copy of Will for the Registrar of Deeds

In the name of God, Amen, on the Twenty first day of January in the year of Our Lord one thousand Eight hundred and Eighty one, I Nancy Langille of River John in the County of Pictou and Province of Nova Scotia Farmer, being weak and frail of body but of perfect mind and memory and calling to mind the uncertainty of time, do hereby make this my last Will and testament in manner (words scratched out and initialed) and form following that is to say

Principally and first of all I commend my Spirit to  Almighty God that gave it, and I commit my body to the dust, whence it came to be interred after the manner of a decent Christian  burial, and as touching such worldly effects wherewith it hath pleased God to bless me, I bequeath and dispose of the same as follows.

In the first place I order and direct  that all my outstanding debts be collected and my just debts together with funeral expenses and expenses of Probate be paid out of personal property of sufficient, and if not, I order that lot of land lying between Jacob Langill and Christy Langill to be sold. I order if there be any money remaining after my debts are paid that a Suitable monument be out at my husbands and my four daughters graves and also at my own grave.

I give and bequeath to my son Coll the Horse and the yearlin steers and the new waggon and Also the Coock House and a bed with beding.

I give and bequeath to my son John the yallow Mare and one Cow, and one bed with beding and part of the household furniture and also the buildings and land bequeathed to him by his late father's will.

I give and bequeath to my son Abram that lot of land on the south side of the Maine rod joining Alexr. Langill the said land willed to him by his late father and get possession at twenty one.

I give and bequeath to my son Jospeh that lot of land on the west side of the road leading to Jacob Langilles joing Christopher Langills the said land willed to him by his late father and get possession when twenty one years.

I give and bequeath to my Daughter Ellen Jane the Sowing Machine the spinning wheels real loom with fixings also all the female clothing in the House together with the fixtures and the remainder of the beds and bedclothing.

I order and direct that my two sons Abram and Joseph and my Daughter Ellen Jane Have a Home with John and that they get bording and clothing and Schooling until they come to be able to do for themselves.

Lastly, I constitute and appoint my Beloved Brother Coll and John McKenzie Merchant of River John to be Joint  Executors of this my  last Will and Testament.

I do hereby certify that the foregoing instrument consisting of two pages, is an exact and literal copy of the last Will and Testament of Nancy Langille late of River John in the County of Pictou, Widow, deceased, Testate, which has been duly filed and admitted to Probate in accordance with the practice of the Court.

Given under my hand at Pictou, this 18th day of February A.D. 1881.
