Sir William Dawson Plaque
Office of the Registrar
May 28, 1950
Dear Mr. Barnwell,
Thank you very much for your letter of May 23rd. You have certainly expelled a great deal of time and effort on the old Academy memorial. I am glad _ they are having such rich events.
There were originally two plaques on the old Academy placed there by the Duke of _ Connaught in 1912 I think, and _ buy the _ historical society. One is _ at the Academy, perhaps both they should be put up somewhere in the vicinity and your idea sounds excellent to me. Dr. D.C. Henry is president of the Historical Society and alas is the representative of the historic sites and monuments _ _ in Nova Scotia to now in Ottawa. I shall see him on his return or perhaps prior to it as I am leaving Kingston outland tomorrow and he _ _ there alas, this cooperative is completely essential if we are _ them to pay in it.
The Ottawa folk have a memorial _ and _ in erection to Sir William Dawson as soon as a site can be preserved. I have been in touch with the mayor regarding this: if we can locate the _ taken from the warehouse it could be placed on the _ _ N.S. Hist. Soc. Plaque if Henry Munro took it away I don’t know where it is, but I’ll search.
You will hear from me as soon as I can get in touch with Dr. Henry.
Very Sincerely,
H. Scammel
