"To James Patterson
By virtue of his Majesty's Writ of Subpaena to you directed, and herewith shown unto you, you are personally to be and appear before the Justices of the Supreme Court, at the Court House in Pictou on the 10th day of September at ten o'clock in the forenoon of the same day; there and then to testify all and singular what you know in a certain cause now depending, and on that day to be tried between Alexander Grant Plaintiff, and Robert Stewart defendant on the part of the defendant and this you are not to omit under penalty of one hundred pounds. Dated Pictou this 14th day of September 1831.
