Estate of William Baillie, late of River John, Farmer deceased, Testate

Copy of Will for the Registrar of Deeds

In the name of God Amen

Knowing that it is appointed unto all men once to die, and acknowledging that it is our duty to put our earthly house in order before the dissolution of the body takes place, and being of sound mind and retentive ability, I do hereby order and make my last Will and testament, as follows

1st. I give and devise all the real estate I now possess that is, the property on which I now reside being formerly two lots, into my wife Betsey.

2nd. I also give and bequeath all my personal effects, such as livestock, farming implements, etc. to my wife Betsey.

3. I give and bequeath to my only son John W. Twenty dollars cash or its equivalent in any other commodity of the farm.

4. I give and bequeath to each of my daughters viz. Isabella, Georgina, Catherine, Maria C. and Libbie A. Twenty dollars Cash or its equivalent it being optional with my wife, Betsey whether they get Cash or its equivalent, in some other articles. The above bequeaths will only apply in case of any of the above mentioned entering into the Bonds of Matrimony, while unmarried they are always to have a home here as long as they make themselves generally useful in taking a part in the work connection with the farm, or as long as their conduct and behavior will be consistent with domestic happiness.

5. I do hereby appoint and constitute Angus Baillie and John Douglas of River John Village as executors of this my last Will and Testament and do hereby revoke, cancel and dismissal all other former Wills and Testaments and Executors by me at any time made, and declare this to be the last made by me.
