Copy of Will for the Registrar of Deeds

I James Brown of Pictou in the County of Pictou and Province of Nova Scotia, Yeoman, do make publish and declare this my last will and testament in manner and form following that is to say

I will and direct that all my joint and lawful debts both be paid and any present expenses defrayed by my executors hereafter to be named one of the proceeds of my estate.

I give devise and bequeath to my daughter Margaret the sum of one hundred and fifty dollars ($150.00) out of the proceeds of my estate, to be paid to her at any time she may demand the same.

I also give to my said daughter Margaret a home in the house I now own and occupy as long as she may desire to remain an **thereof also all her bedding and bed. It is my desire that in the event of sickness or any other necessary cause that my daughter Mary Bell shall have a home in the house which I now own and occupy.

I give devise and bequeath to my son Edward(subject to the foregoing bequeaths and restrictions all the remainder of my real estate situate at the west end of the Town of Pictou and on which I now reside wherein my said son Edward has heirs and assigns forever.

I also give to my son Edward all the remainder of my personal property wherein consisting of money in the Bank following said debts due to me. Household furniture of all kinds whatsoever or wheresoever found of which I may be possess at the time of my decease.

Finally I hereby nominate and appoint my son Edward and my friend Duncan McGregor of Scotch Hill to be executors of this my said last Will and Testament giving them full power to research all business connected with the execution of this my last will and testament and hereby revoke all wills and testaments by me made and executed.

In witness whereof I have hereto subscribed my hand and affixed my seal at Pictou this seventeenth day of September in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and ninety seven.

McLeod of said Court do hereby certify that the foregoing paper written is an exact and literal copy of the last Will and Testament of James Brown , late of Pictou, Yeoman, deceased, which has been duly filed and admitted to Probate in said Court on the 23 day of February AD 1904 at Pictou in said County.
