Estate of Alexander Chisholm late of Riverton, Farmer, deceased, Testate
Copy of Will for the Registrar of Deeds
In the name of God Amen.
I Alexander Chisholm of Riverton in the County of Pictou, Farmer, being in the enjoyment of health and of sound and disposing mind and memory, do make publish and declare this to be my last Will and testament, as follows, viz --
First. I will and devise that my beloved wife Nancy if she survives me, shall during her natural life, have the use and control of all the personal property of whatsoever nature and wherever the same may be, that may be left by me at the time of my decease, including any Household Furniture, Pew in Sharon Church, Stellarton, Cows, cattle, sheep,**, as well as any claim that I may have against my son John David Chisholm on account of the non fulfilment of a certain bond or agreement in writing bearing date the Thirtieth day of January A.D. 182, and registered in the office of the Registrar of Deeds at Pictou in Silver___ folio___ (and which Bond or agreement is secured by a mortgage on the property conveyed by me to my said son, which mortgage is also registered in the office aforesaid in Silver____ folio___) and which shall also have the use and control of the lot of land which I still own situate lying and between the main Road leading through Riverton and the East River of Pictou, containing twelve acres more or less, said personal property and lot of land to be held by her during the term of her natural life, for the use of herself and of my two daughters, Jane and Mary Chisholm, while they remain with her.
Second, I give and bequeath unto my said two daughters, Jane and Mary Chisholm all that my remain of my personal property at the death of my beloved wife- and also the lot of land hereinbefore mentioned, containing twelve acres, more or less, subject however to the use and control of my said wife, during her life time as hereinbefore mentioned. To have and to hold the same unto my said daughters Jane and Mary Chisholm while they live together for their sole and absolute use. But at the death of sister of said daughters then the whole of the said personal property and lot of land shall become the property of the surviving one.
And I further will and direct that after the death of my beloved wife if my said daughters are both living that the lot of land hereinbefore mentioned, consisting twelve acres more or less, shall be held by them as following vis.- the portion of said lot situate on the south side of the Brook running through said lot by my said daughter Jane Chisholm and the portion lying on the south side of said Brook by my said daughter Mary Chisholm.
And it is my wish and devise that my said daughters shall set as with the use of the portions of the dwelling house now occupied by us, as well as the garden attached thereto, and the other privileges given there under the Bond or agreement hereinbefore mentioned and that during the lifetime of my said wife they shall always give her the care, attention and nursing that she may require.
Lastly, I do nominate and appoint James McKay of Riverton aforesaid, Farmer, and John A. Grant at present of Boston in the State of Massachusetts, United States of America, Harness Maker, the executors of this my last Will and Testament, hereby revoking and annulling all other wills by me at anytime heretofore made, and declaring this to be my last Will and testament.
In witness whereof I have hereto my hand and seal subscribed and set this eighth day of September in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred eighty-six.

I do hereby certify that the foregoing instrument consisting of two pages, is an exact and literal copy of the last Will and Testament of Alexander Chisholm Late of Riverton in the County of Pictou, Farmer, deceased, Testate, which has been duly filed and admitted to Probate in accordance with the practice of the Court.
