Estate of Joseph Baxter late of Pictou, Jailor, deceased, Testate
Copy of Will for the Registrar of Deeds
I Joseph Baxter of Pictou in the County of Pictou, Jailor, do make publish and declare this to be my last Will and testament, hereby revoking and making void all former wills by me made.
1st. I will and devise that all my just debts and funeral expenses be paid out of monies by me owned and possessed.
2nd I will and bequeath to my beloved wife all my household furniture and furnishings of every mature and kind whatsoever.
3rd. I will and bequeath to my son David Baxter all the personal property belonging to me now on the farm at Carriboo where he resides.
4th. I will and bequeath to my said wife one hundred dollars out of my said monies.
5th. I will and devise that the executing and Executor of this my last Will and testament and hereinafter named shall invest the remainder of monies or securities for moneys that I may leave in some good safe and profitable investments and pay over annually to my said wife the amount interest arising there from and I will and direct that at her decease the principal money so invested and be paid one hundred dollars to my daughter Martha and the balance to my son David.
7th. I will devise and bequeath my farm at Carriboo whereon my son David now resides, to him my said son subject nevertheless to the comfortable maintenance and support during their natural lives of my said wife and my brother in law Andrew Grant and also of my daughter Martha and my adopted child Annie McLellan so long as they may desire to remain with my said wife or on said farm.
8th I nominate constitute and appoint my said wife Margaret Jane Baxter the executrix and John D. McDonald of Pictou, Esquire the executor of this my said last Will and Testament.
In witness whereof I have hereto my hand and seal subscribed and set this fifteenth day of February A.D. 1884

I do hereby certify that the foregoing instrument consisting of one and part of a page, is an exact and literal copy of the last Will and Testament of Joseph Baxter Late of Pictou in the County of Pictou, Jailor, deceased, testate, which has been duly filed and admitted to Probate in accordance with the practice of the Court.
