Copied by R. Merrick in 1973 from the book Daniel M. Gordon, His Life by Wilhelmina Gordon. Gordon attended Pictou Academy before becoming a Presbyterian minister. He worked on various exploration missions in Canada, and was a chaplan for Canadian troops during the Northwest Rebellion. Later he succeeded G.M. Grant as the principal of Queen's University.
